How to Set Up the FTP in Dreamweaver MX 2004
Step 1
Click: "Site, Manage Sites".
Step 2
Click: "New, Site".
Step 3
From the "Advanced" tab:
- Select "Local Info" category.
- Choose a name for your web site.
- Choose the location on your computer, where your website is stored. This is called the "Local Root Folder".
- Choose the folder where you store images for the website. (recommended to reside within Local Root Folder, labelled appropriately, eg: "images" or "pictures").
- Enter the URL of the site whether live or on a local server.

Step 4
From the "Remote Info" sub section.
- Choose FTP from the list
- Enter the Host Address that you have been given for FTP.
- Enter the Host Directory you were supplied, sometimes your domain name.
- Enter the Username that you where given for FTP.
- Enter the Password that you where given for FTP.

FTP or "File Transfer Protocol" is a method used to transfer files from one computer to another. You will have been given these details by your Web site hosting company.
