- Single domain
- Free for .au domains
- Extends registration by 1 year for all other domains
How It Works
Domain transfers are not usually a complicated process, and there are only a few simple steps involved. Please note, there are a few details you will need to confirm in order to allow the transfer to happen smoothly.
Tip
There are publicly available tools that you can use to look up your domain information. You can use these tools to find out which registrar manages your domain, the domain status, the registrant contact information and name server settings.
Afilias is the managing body for .au domain registrations. You can perform look ups for .au domains at auDA.
Step 1: Who is the Existing Registrar?
When you transfer your domain, you should know which registrar your domain is currently registered with.
Step 2: Verify the Registrant Contact Details
Specifically, check the email address. As part of the transfer process, you are also required to authorise the transfer via email. An email will be sent to the Registrant Email Address, so you must have access to this email address. If you do not receive email from this address, you can log into the domain management console with your existing registrar and change the Registrant Contact email address.
You should also ensure that all contact details for your admin, billing and technical domain contacts are correct at this time as well.
Step 3: Retrieve the Domain Password
For all transfers, you will need the domain password to complete the transfer order. The domain password, also known as the Auth (Authorisation) Key or the EPP Code, can be retrieved by logging into the domain management console with your existing registrar.
Step 4: Order the Transfer
Once you have all the information you need to begin, you can start the order transfer process via the WebClick Client Portal.
If you are an existing WebClick client, please log into your Portal account to initiate a transfer.
Domain transfers are free for .au domains.
For all other domains, the registration period is extended by one year, thereby incurring a 1 year renewal fee. See the full domain price list for standard domain prices.
Step 5: Approve the transfer
An order confirmation email will be sent to the Registrant Email Address from WebClick. To proceed with the order, you must follow the instructions in the email.
Once the transfer approval step has been completed, the rest of the process will proceed automatically. Transfers usually take between two to five business days to be finalised and once it has been completed, you will receive an email confirming the transfer is complete.
